With so much goodness packed into one bottle, it got us wondering if you could make a cleanser at home with the ingredients in your kitchen. Turns out thanks to these recipes from StyleCraze, you can – although it might not be as pleasantly fragranced as our fave REN products!

  1. Chickpea Powder And Turmeric:

Gram flour or chickpea powder has been extensively used as a facial cleanser for ages. It contains natural skin lightening properties. It helps lighten tan and dark patches. It controls excess oil, leaves the skin fresh, softens it and also fights pimples.

Start by taking 2 tablespoons of chickpea powder and then add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and milk. Use a clean spoon and mix all the ingredients well to form a thin or thick paste depending upon your preference. The consistency of the mixture should not be very thick or runny as it might slip off your skin after application. Once you create a smooth face mask-like consistency, apply it all over your face with a flat face pack brush or clean hands. Leave it for 10 to 20 seconds and then work it into your skin like you would do with a soap or a cleanser. This recipe is good for oily to combination skin types.

  1. Milk:

Milk is nature’s most effective natural cleanser. It works effectively on most skin types.

Take 5 tablespoons of cold milk and add a tiny pinch of salt to it. Use a clean spoon and stir the mixture well. Then, take a cotton ball and soak it into the mixture. Gently dab the cotton ball dipped in the milk and salt liquid mixture all over your face and neck area. You can leave it for 1 to 2 minutes. Then, gently rub it in soft circular motions and rinse it off.

The salt and milk mixture gently exfoliates your skin. It removes the dead skin and also nourishes it. Your face will instantly get a fresh and glowing look. Milk also softens the skin, lightens its tone and evens it out.

  1. Cucumber And Curd:

Cucumber works as an excellent cleanser. It has skin tightening properties. It also helps lightening the spots, blemishes and freckles. It leaves your skin feeling soft, fresh and nourished.

Take one peeled cucumber and put it in the blender to extract fresh cucumber juice. Now, add about 2 to 3 tablespoons of fresh curd to it. Mix both the ingredients and apply it on your face and neck area. Rinse your face with cold water and pat dry.

  1. Honey:

Honey is a great natural face cleanser. It works gently in removing dirt and other impurities from the skin without stripping the skin of its natural oils unlike the chemical foaming cleansers and soaps. It has great natural antibacterial, anti-infective and probiotic properties, which help in effectively reducing breakouts. It is very gentle and provides deep nourishment to the skin; it is even ideal for sensitive skin. It balances oily skin and hydrates dry skin.

Take about 1 teaspoon of milk and add 4 teaspoons of honey to it. Once you create a smooth face mask-like consistency, apply it all over your face with a flat face pack brush or clean hands. Leave it for 10 to 20 seconds and then work it into your skin like you would do with a soap or cleanser. This recipe is good for all skin types.

  1. Oatmeal:

Oatmeal is a gentle exfoliator and cleanser. It works in drawing out all the skin impurities and helps in cleansing the pores. It also works as a mild astringent, thereby deeply cleansing the skin without damaging it. It is perfect even for the most sensitive skin types. Oatmeal contains good portions of beta glucan ─ a polymer chain which is made up of oats. It heals the skin quickly. It works as an anti-inflammatory agent and stimulates collagen production in the skin.

Start by making a mixture of 1 tablespoon of milk (buttermilk or regular milk), 1 tablespoon of oatmeal and a few drops of honey. Add little water and work the ingredients into a fine paste. Apply the paste all over your face and neck. Gently create circular motions to make the mixture work as a cleanser and scrub.
