Have you been toying with the idea of switching to vegan skin care? Not sure whether to go out of your way to source a product when the glossy and lovely department stores are filled with less ethical but shiny cosmetics? Are there even enough vegan skin care products to replace the modern woman’s bath and makeup bag?
As beauty blogger, Nanshy has declared, “Think of any makeup product or accessory and you’ll find at least fifty different brands selling the vegan version of it.”
Magazines may be filled with images of glossy products from more mainstream brands, but it may well be a good idea to look at your vegan options and understand exactly why the amount of women switching their allegiances to this more ethical option is increasing by the day.
In her blog, Nanshy, looks at the merits of vegan skin care. Here we paraphrase her arguments:
- Vegan skincare is not only a good cause, but healthier and safer for the skin.
- You will be avoiding dead animal by-products, namely uric acid from cows, dead insect extracts and beeswax.
- Vegan skincare is ideal for sensitive skin. Performance-wise, vegan beauty products are considered superior since they have lesser ingredients in them.
- You’ll easily be dodging all products tested on animals. Being vegan, products are 100 per cent cruelty-free.
- Vegans think holistically. The packaging that your vegan skincare is wrapped in has been carefully selected to be made from recycled materials. From the tub to the actual product – it is all eco-friendly.
- It is a fast growing market. The range of vegan skin care is increasing month on month, meaning there is a vegan skin care or beauty product for just about everything – mascara, skin serum, primers, foundation – the list is endless.
So – there it is. If we’ve missed out on any other points, let us know!
